Scars and Stains
My scars run deep like underground rivers My stains are bad beasts gazing in shattered mirrors My scars bring much pain and the pain lasts forever My stains keep me drained like waterless wells in desolate deserts Like monsters and madmen with murderous needs My scars and my stains leave me shackled and chained Teardrops of terror turn into aggressive assaults I'm blinded and bound by my numerous faults Just like grains of salt and sand in open wounds Like vultures flying low over open graves My scars and my stains stay with me everyday In mad desperation near my final doomsday I cry out to God to take me away Suddenly the sky parts and I can see His fiery face He smiles down from Heaven and He tells me to wait He takes all my problems He takes all my pain Those shackles and chains He shatters and breaks And those scars and those stains make me look deep inside Gods grace is sufficient for me to survive
