Half Way Up the Mountain
7 march 2015 1:54 Pm Half way up the mountain at the age of fourty eight I struggled so hard to get there and along the way I made, many mistakes The place where I was climbing was loose with shale And then came the wind blowing like a gale I held on tight, I strained with all my might But the rocks gave way and the wind prevailed and down the mountain I fell I had slipped many times but always regained my ground this time was different there was no hand or foot hold to be found Down I went sliding and tumbling Until I hit bottom and lay there grumbling Tired and hurt I lay there battered and bruised Bleeding in the dirt I rested awhile to regain my strength As I thought of my life at length I was not dead but soon would be of dread I got up and moaned then cursed quit a bit I looked at the mountain shook my head and then my fist Then started back up because I'm not one to quit You see I remembered all the twists and turns All the traps and falls that on the first climb I learned Though it tricked me and threw me and made my head spin I am now starting over and it will not throw me again
