A Letter To Myself At 18
Dear Adam, who just left high school, This is your older self, you fool. You survived Northport High, yeah, great, dude, Now come the years you get a clue. First off, Grad Night needs to be skipped! Trust me on how you have been tipped. You'll be drugged, humiliated and stabbed in the back. And to top it all off, a panic attack. But once that's over, you'll go home. You'll hang with your Dad more than you will roam. Cherish the book, and working with wood. Before you know it, he'll be gone for good. When you move to Kettle, and oh yes you will, Remember the stage isn't the only thrill. You'lll check out the arts and local cuisine, and wine is not really so bad as it seems. You'll return to God, and it's a good feeling, So let your praise to Him go right through the ceiling. You'll make some good friends there, just look for the sign. Then turn left from there and just follow the line. High school is nowhere near the best of your life, You may have to go through some agony and strife. But if it gets bad, do not find a rope. Every dark tunnel has a light of hope. I'll see you next time I look in a mirror, And hopefully this letter makes it a bit more clear. Keep your sense of humor, it do come in handy, And you might want to go ahead and lay off the candy.
