The Lone Victim
I opened my eyes Saw the darkness around me Dear god, is this night eternal? Or is this what I perceive? Cold wind soothens me, But my wound is still bleeding A soft voice resonating, Taking me to the past In remembrance I relieved The sound of vultures awoke me I sat in the cold sand My clothes bloodpaved And my nose filled with the stench of the dead Oh heavens, I cried Why me? Why me in this mayhem? I looked around Soldiers of the past! Now just flesh soaked in blood Oh! Was I better? A life in disguise Trained and tortured, just for pride Hills stared at me While I watched the vultures feed Oh! its just flesh For their spirits will reincarnte To satisfy the greedy world In the midst of darkness I stood Staring at the void Awaiting death's reaper
