Me
It came to me, a stirring, a burning Afire with hope. Decades of self-spurning, dark learning Cleansed from my mind as water and soap. I think I know of its place residing, its abiding Hosted for healing. All that self-loathing isn’t now in me residing And the true me each day is fully revealing. It taught me I was richly endowed, Deity-shod Cruel barbs of no weight. It said I was no less than a daughter of God And had within me the roots to grow great. It told me to dismiss every self-damning doubt Voice rife with conviction. It said decency and valor were what I was about And contrary claims were lamentable fiction. I feel now having been touched by Deity’s hand Renewed to the right me. At last after years of put-down pain, I understand I’m a person of worth, loved by God, and free.
