He Took the First Step
He Took the First Step! He sure did! Then I followed suit! Something went terribly wrong because he was dancing the jitterbug and I just wanted to waltz. How could we have gotten our cues all mixed up? He was a ballroom dancer and I was the kind that twirled around in her bedroom in her church dress. We were meant to be together for all of eternity but we needed to take dance lessons together in order to not stumble and fall down upon each other. Oh it was a mess! You should have seen us trying to dance our own individual dances. We had to get on the same page and then we could dance together forever. Our first dance didn’t go very well but then we got better at it with much practice. It was a beautiful mess too! He held me in his arms and I tripped and fell on my face. He twirled me around in a circle and I made him dip and dive. Oh it was the most amazing date ever! After it was all over I figured out what went wrong. Oh you better believe I did! We were listening to two different kinds of music. He was on a fifties music station and I was listening to classical. We’ve got our acts together now and I think we can dance in public with a little bit of confidence and grace. I do have a moral to this quaint little story too. If you don’t want to dance with me then just say so or you could be placing your life at risk! Dancing with me is like a dangerous military maneuver! And secondly, before you begin dancing with your dance partner agree on the same music or someone could seriously get hurt. Gwendolen Rix 11-8-14 This is an almost true story.
