A Dream of How She Almost Died
Lately I do not know what it even means to dream. In my youth I saw a vision, But this life is not the one I'd seen. So much hope for that future, And all it had to offer. I knew one day I'd reach the top, But along the way I'd surely suffer. I knew the contents of the safe, But it appears I've lost the combination She looks so graceful, In every way she moves. A free spirit dancing, Beneath the summer moon. A prisoner by day, To such a fragile train of thought. Tortured as a youth, Regrets of innocence once lost. Mixing shards of glass inside a vial of bitter poison. A choice to leave it all without a care or any reason. Anything to run away and escape another changing season. In so few years allowed to pass, A couple burned so bright. She could see a faint glimmer of that hope, On the darkest dreary night. Omit the one that seemed to be her last, Aurora grabbed the bottle, And swallowed it so fast. Raising it up to see the emptiness inside. Reminded of herself, She took a breath and closed her eyes. Waking to the sound of wind blowing through the tree's, A perfect day to be alive. She left her past beneath the Autumn leaves...
