Tree of Lies
Where do the roots of a tree of lies start, where do they grow, if but not in the heart? From what poisonous spring do this wicked tree's roots, draw the foul water that nourish its fruit? Does the shade from it's branches cool those who stand near, or does it's dark hint of evil make them tremble with fear? In the fall do its leaves change to golden and brown, then drop in a heap, already rotten on the ground? If a child builds a playhouse in it's crooks and its crannies, will they soon look as withered as a wizened old granny? If the sweet sap be drawn from the bark of its trunk, will it make a man speak falsely from what he has drunk? Will the foul blossoms of this tree ever wither and die? When the light of truth shines on it, as the sun from the sky.
