At the Gate
One man was very poor and he lived out in the streets Another man had so much more as it's guest that he greets And upon his lonely way he sat down at the rich man's gate It had been a long day and this rest it could no longer wait He was so covered with leprosy that wild dogs licked his face The rich man could not stand to see for this his beautiful place Yelling out in complete disdain demanding that he just go away As the poor man became vain asking for food or just time to stay So they just ignored his call as they simply put him out of mind Some would nearly fall for in leaving it was him they would still find And as they stepped over him to leave for he had died in their sight None knowing then they'd grieve as the rich man also died that night The rich man was now very thirsty as he could see that Lazarus was not For he was now suffering but could see the great reward the poor man got Though for him it was now too late, if he could just save his five like kin But they too had the same fate and like him would soon suffer in that sin Luke.16:19-31
