Not By My Power
I was on path when I came to a fork in the tongue And with a simple sinful flick I was flung. Onto the path that the world traveled. Trekking on only to see their world unraveled. But I bumped and grinded on the edge of a slippery slope So when I slipped I used my knowledge to cope. I survived my decline much like Miley Cyrus, Instead of seeking the Lord’s knowledge in the Papyrus. Like Eminem I was full of myself but I still had had a hunger That would not let me hear the beautiful things by Gungor. I tossed my wonderfully made soul around like a pair of dice Rejecting the teachings that would lead to para para para dise. Because how can you stomach the idea of second place With YMCA trophies to show that everybody wins the race. The prizes are so blinding it makes it hard for us to hear. Train all you want, the finish line you will never clear. We possess no power to turn our deaths into Life. So we needed a savior to save us from our strife. Passover lambs, unleavened bread and bloody sweat Accompanied the only death we will never regret. With the fare of 30 pieces of silver paid, he boarded the cross And the heavenly conception would appear to be a loss. The chief priests and lawmakers begin to feign And a Pilate washed his hands and started the plane That would begin the don’t stop believing journey Because Jesus came to fulfill the law unlike an attorney. He had to sacrifice his Son on a hill to show man. Then he raised him up like Josh Groban. And yet we still can’t work our deaths into good It is the birth, life, death, and resurrection that will get us into the heavenly neighborhood.
