I recall the racing of my heart, And the tremor of nerves before That first all night phone call, Where we talked as friends long lost, Or more, as lovers reunited. When hours passed as fleeting moments And we shared our secrets As memories reminded. I remember the dawn that morning; The palest glow creeping through curtains And your voice, more natural to me than breath. Time has taken wing; These memories made Remain fresh And clear as mountain streams, Not faded by the passing of hours, months and years. But why tonight of all Do I recall these firsts, my dearest?
