In Dreams
In dreams I do a thousand things reality will not record: a heroine of myriad tales wielding Truth's divining sword; a daring dragon slayer riding tempestuous seas, fighting for the poor and weak, answering anxious pleas. In dreams I do a thousand things: I conquer the unknown; I reign a queen in far off lands upon a golden throne. I judge between evil and good, discerning wrong and right, commander of a legion campaigner for the light. In dreams . . . but I must live on earth and walk as all must walk, wrestle with the winds of woe, guard my thoughts, my talk. I would be a pure protector of the small ones and the meek, accepting life's misfortunes; my heart and conscience keep. Perhaps the things I do in dreams are not at all so grand, perhaps my home is better than a distant foreign strand. It could be greater here to dwell with loved ones staunchly stand; walk life's pathway with my brother, heart to heart, hand in hand. Copyright, 4/28/2014 Faye Gibson
