Who Is He
WHO IS HE? We walk out of the movie theater, holding hands laughing about the movie we just saw and what we would be getting into later on in the night. We talk and fantasize about the possibilities of our life together you know the what if’s of the first date. We get down the block and He walks towards us and my heart stops. There is a look on my face that no one could ever describe. As he approaches us he looks at me, says Hi, and keeps walking with a big smile on his face as if he wasn’t walking with another woman himself. Well my date naturally says what’s up to him like any normal man would do and turns to me and asks Who is He? The question Who is He? Stirs so many thoughts in me. I think about who he is and I say to myself, He is the man that blackened my eye. He is the man that slapped me because I burnt the breakfast. He is the man that kicked me in the stomach and made me lose our baby. He is the man my mother told me wasn’t the one and I didn’t listen. He is the reason that all of those women called my phone day in and day out looking for their man. He is the reason all of those women wanted to fight me for messing with their man. He is the reason His mother doesn’t like me. I ask myself one more time Who is He? and I think He is, He is, He is, the reason that I am on this date right now. So I look at my date, and he looks at me, and I look at my date and he looks at me, and I casually say, Nobody. ©2014 by Navi J.
