The Last Train Ride
The ride, the long hard ride No food, no water, just the ride Gathered like cattle for slaughter With tattoos they should not hide Where did they come from? No one seemed to care Just a boxcar rolling northward And little space to share Those eyes, always starring Starring at nothing, just starring Afraid, always afraid of everyone As that music just kept on blaring Hollowed eyed, and seeing nothing Afraid, oh yes so very afraid Debarking, here they were debarking As complete their trip was made The fires, those ever burning fires The smell, yes, death was the smell Those eyes knew the meaning behind it Yes, death was something they knew well Marching, always they were marching As here their journey would end It was the end of the road at last As those Nazi’s did not pretend
