Thanks Giving
“The smell of the sweet potatoes In the oven fills up the kitchen As she reaches for the cranberry In the cupboard to be open She loves cranberry sauce with turkey But I don’t like cranberry or turkey So she bakes chickens cut in half’s that smells so good it makes me hungry She is very tired I can tell Last night she was to excited to sleep It’s her first thanks giving with my family And her emotions was running deep She wants it to be just perfect So she was cooking with anticipations She says her first’s family thanks giving Will be fill with a lot high expectation I told her to relax its no big deal And smile as she makes a cute puppy face Saying "will they like my cooking What if they say the food have no taste? She finishes setting the foods on the table As I help her mop the kitchen floor She showered and wears a black and gold dress As the guesses starts coming thru the door I swear she is the most beautiful girl That has and will ever walk this world She smiles when they say the food taste nice She now had her nervousness under control She was now in a more relax mood And every one was just blown away by her And asking her all kind of questions About her home country and culture She was so happy every one likes her She fell asleep as soon as she hit the bed I pull the cover over her Whispers”I love you” and kiss her on her head Thanks giving is an American holiday It begins with the pilgrims from England Who came over and landed on Plymouth Rock In Massachusetts in1621 The pilgrims shared a feast in the fall time With native Indians hiding behind the trees And then after that the Indians come back And leave then a big turkey And would cook a feast and leave it out For the Indians to come take it and be gone Until one day they call the Indians to the table And this is how thanks giving were born Soon the practice was being done by everyone And the Indians sand pilgrims becomes close friends It didn’t become a federal holiday until 1941 Although it was for many years it was an annual event She is sleeping so gently like a baby This was her first thanks giving in America And I know for every thanks giving to come This special day we will always remember This poem is getting to be too long So let me put down my pen and go Will get under the covers next you her And kiss her and whisper “I love you so”
