The Class of 63
We started as little ones on an adventure Not knowing what the real world was all about And had we’d known of all those heartaches back then We’d stayed children on that there’s no doubt But for some reason we wanted life to speed up Get out into the world and spin the ball Head toward the flashing neon’s that were calling Cause our home town had come to a crawl We found out, yes but way too late That the grass wasn’t greener after all We weren’t the center of attention we’d sought And truly we never really stood that tall But still our minds were always on something Something we never grabbed hold of and kept That’s why some made an early exit As we walked them to their graves and wept That was way back yonder behind those sunsets And across many waters that have sped by And life now laughs at our miseries And giggles at every time we were shy We’ve lost a good number of our followers As the sunsets have mounted up in our lives And each anniversary of our graduation We look around to see how many now survives
