Peter's Prayer-- a Constanza
A lad was riding horse by night, And passing through the Devil's Lair, When thunder split the tainted air; His horse then threw him, ran in fright, So little Peter knelt and prayed Because he was a mite afraid. He prayed for just a little might; He could not walk to see his Mum, Who waited up to see him come. An angel, clothed in rays of light, Sat by his side and kept him warm Throughout the bitter, angry storm; Then took him up and held him tight While walking down the dreary path That left that den of fear and wrath. Until his cottage came in sight, She carried him through place by place To see his mother's beaming face. A lad was riding horse by night, His horse then threw him, ran in fright; He prayed for just a little might. An angel clothed in rays of light Then took him up and held him tight, Until his cottage came in sight. January 22, 2014
