Letting Go
My dearest heart, I do not go Because I’m tired of you, Or think that other worlds will show A heart more kind or true. Pretend I’ve died, just tell your heart I’m dead forever gone, And with a kiss please let me go--I must be moving on. Yesterday the Sun was here And now returned again, Suns feel no passion or no fear Experience no pain. I wish that I could disappear Dissolve into the sky Then I could leave you weeping here Without explaining why. For when you sigh, in mis'ry true With eyes of pain and sorrows My life long hopes are shred in two-- I lose unkown tomorrows. You say you love me--it’s a lie-- For if such thing was true, You would not force me stay and die Or tear my heart in two . Love me hate me, let me go-- Know , sweet one, I loved you. release me from this bitter hold Your love's a curse come true. For,when your door has finally closed And I’ve gone down the stairs, When you’re quiet and composed You'll keep me in your prayers. You see, I know love's strongest bond Can navigate the sea. In dreams such passion as we’ve found Will still thrill me and thee. If destiny hath blundered fair, One day we'll meet, Dear Friend. You'll kiss me softly if you dare, And hold me once again.
