Behind the Smile
Behind the Smile By Kevin Robey October 15, 2013 A pill to wake, to sleep at night A pill to ensure it’s all right Lifting the fog, it all seems so clear Things about myself I have left to fear As the silence continues in my mind I’m scared there’s nothing left to find If happiness and bliss is found in this I say its chaos and misery I’ll miss Alone and proud, I smile more now The scars seem too easy to disavow Am I living or dying? Is it all just the same? It’s hard to tell if laughter is to blame The addict lives inside my mind killing time Never too far from the scene of the crime Reminders it leaves in the back of my heart Scarring the veins that try to rip me apart Gripping the rails on this runaway train Calm in the stagecoaches are the insane Are thoughts of bliss, the calm before the storm? Does chaos line the walls of my heart when its warm? Armed with a stolen heart I took from a dream My smile is a face not too far from a scream While living on the edge is where I’d rather be I’m living in a sea full of possibilities It’s with great trepidation I look ahead Rather than storms I see sunshine instead Shards of broken hearts lay beneath my feet I walk into the grey and rename every street
