Jesus Did
When he who was to betray Him was at hand, Jesus didn’t run, Yet He knew what was ahead of Him. When Jesus stood before Pilate, He did not lie so He could be free, But He forsook liberty for captivity. When they hit Him with a whip, Jesus did not say ‘No, no, no! That was a jag, I am not the King of the Jews', But He endured earnestly. When Pilate washed his hands, Knowing that Jesus was innocent, Jesus did not curse him, He only could look him with eyes of love. On walking the road to Calvary, Falling, being spat at, He did not turn back the hands of time, He suffered to win the victory. When the cross was placed before Him, He did not say ‘What? On the tree I created? But He saw beyond, He saw that its longitude was lengthy enough to reach all sinners, He saw that its altitude was wide enough to envelop all iniquity. More so, on being laid on the cross, He did not give up. When the nail was placed upon His palm, And its chill He felt, He did not have second thoughts. Only a touching sigh, could be heard as it pierced through His flesh. He never rejected, He only pleased for His Father’s will to be done. When all was history, When all was still, When all was cold And when all hope was gone, He arose! Halleluah! He lives!
