Must Have Been Fate
In the trees Small fields Cloudy skies A camo boy Destined to be a man. In the streets Between buildings Bright grey sky's A suburban girl Destined to escape. Looking up they see the same sun. Looking up they see the same moon. Looking out tho it's a different view. The boy sees a country The girl sees a city population. Day by day the boy goes out Through the trees Hunting in the fields Fishing in the lakes Shooting at targets. Working his way to be a man. Always thinking about what he's missing. Day by day the girl goes out Through houses Dodging speeding cars Working day to night Living life on repeat. Trying so hard to break free. Always thinking about what she's missing. The closer he gets to being a man Adventures he'll take Visit new places Go out of the country To city's and suburbs to see what's there. The closer she gets to her breaking point, She takes a chance. Going on days off to places Out in the random country, See a life hiding away from her. Dark clouds start blowing in A Tuesday afternoon. Close in range they have become. He's out fishing She's walking on the riverside. Not knowing, their not alone. In comes a storm, He starts to pack up She tries to find her way back. Getting in his truck Windows wide open Lightning strikes near by, Amazed he sits and stares. Running across the riverside Lightning strikes by her side, Not close enough to effect her But freezes her in her place. It wasn't just one strike or two It was many to a few. A show so spectacular He couldn't help but head out to it. A show so scary She couldn't help but stay put. Scared she'd get hit with the strikes nearby, She sat there and tried so hard not to cry. Four more strikes amazed his eyes, Running as fast as he can To catch the show. But deep down, He felt like something was there. One more strike Catches a blind eye. As he looks around She looked up. Searching for something For the strike was too bright, They both kept looking Yet saw nothing in sight. If they saw each other it would of been fate. Just one more step he'd have to take. But the lightning strikes ended And he started to turn away All hope seemed lost That faithful day. Standing up She caught his presence. But with how he stood, She knew he never saw her. Not trying to make a scene she turned away. Ready to leave they both just about called it a day. Back to back the two were. Somewhere in the middle From country to suburb. Between the trees A gust of wind appears In two directions Hitting both their faces. Forced to turn away from the wind Finally, they see face to face. Just one step closer he'd become a man Just one step closer she'd finally escape. Basically was fate. Helping two find What they knew was missing inside.
