Distant Affairs
You seemed so desirable Your charm, your witt Your intellect swept me off my feet! Your smile haunted me in my dreams And I woke up wanting you, needing you Till you came over And said That you wanted me too. Days of laughter and happiness Followed by nights of coziness Brought the joy I had so long missed. Words of love, show of care Illusion that perhaps someone is there Made me believe, perhaps I have changed. But oh, rainbows are but always impermanent! No matter how colorful and joyous they look! And so is this so called love my dear How can I but tell you, this ain’t gonna last? Cause you see, the mystery is over So is the fight. And the chase. What’s left? Nothing to pretend. But lonliness. For I have only chased All that’s a distant affair. Perhaps that’s what makes them so desirable? The pain created is but by my own self Weaved the chains of miseries In which I am entangled.
