Girl Haunted
There once was a girl of seventeen Treated like a queen with eyes of green Everyone loved her but they did not know That her shining confidence was only for show They did not know she felt dead inside She could not feel no matter how she tried But everyone always showered her with love And she did her best rise above Those terrible feelings that would not end No matter how many wanted to be her friend They loved her face and loved her voice So she felt as if she had no choice But to pretend to be who they thought she was This brought her no comfort so she turned to drugs Whatever she could get, that's what she wanted Each and everyday she felt more haunted Haunted by the ghost of who she should be Haunted by the person she pretended to see Time crept up on her, the years passed fast Who she was now was a big contrast To who she was or who she thought she had been Now she did not know the person within She only knew that death was close And she secretly hoped for an overdose That would suit her just fine she knew It did not matter how fast time flew Soon she would be dead and that's all that mattered At least then she would not feel the shame while flattered At least then she could finally rest in peace And the pain of this life would permanently cease A contest winner that was based on "Flower" by Soundgarden
