Cupid's Arrow
Was it something that Cupid knew? As he strung his iconic bow That the arrows that it flew Will cause lovers love to grow? Is virtue unaware of pain? If two hearts become entwined Will the strength of love remain? If aversions they should find Will the heart grow fonder? When absence seems to long Or thoughts begin to wonder May be something’s wrong? Can tears be shed together? Not knowing why you’ve cried Over anything whatever and Forgetting when they’ve dried When of love the violin sings Two hearts can hear the sound Gently played upon the strings And as one the joy is found Is there a bottom to the sea? That the ship shall sail upon Will a tempest founder thee? And then thy boat be gone If peril’s promise threatens doom A fate of sure demise The darkened door of Satin’s tomb But together they will rise? Will the winters feel as spring? While birdsong fills the air Every touch warm feelings bring Then love is surely there
