Sleepless Nights
SLEEPLESS NIGHTS Spinning and rolling in my canvas bed, Wishing and yearning for sleep, To take me away from that world, And put my memories of you to rest, To render me unconscious and unfeeling, Of your tender touch to my heart, That eats me bit by bit, Getting into me deep and deeper, Day in day out, leaving a dent in my heart, Hoping you'll be back someday , To fill it once again, To cure me of my insomnia, when it’s dawn. Each day the sun sets, To bring the day to the end, But it never sets to my memories of you, Each moment I close my eyes, They flow back and fill me in a flash, Those memories of your tender touch, That take me back to that distant past, Day after day, to those times before, When you were here with me, I stare deep into the teasing and nagging night, Hoping you’ll be back someday, To heal me of my insomnia, when it’s dawn.
