The Great Asylum
The world is a great asylum astonishing Where every inhabitant is a fellow; crazy Weeping for something lost or deficient Or crave zealously for rather unattainable. Each one broods constantly over the past Regretting the opportunities overlooked Fretting about one’s failure to grab chance Thus concede let even the present to slip. There are others who continuously dream About a rosy tomorrow, upbeat and vivid With no struggle necessary to put forth Spoil their living present; well-meaning. Some others loiter on the corridor of life Lethargic snails, inactive and dim-witted Merely exist wandering senselessly about Deserve nothing but ridicule and sympathy. It is a spectacle of wonders undoubtedly That none lives in this noble wide world To enjoy the bounties of nature bestowed, as All remain confined to their cocoons trivial.
