The Battle
There’s a battle going on with me and my heart See I am ready for love, but my heart isn’t My heart says I have been too careless with her That I don’t know what I am doing Telling me that she is fragile She should be handled with care Says she has been made whole again She’s not wanting to broken again It’s too much, the pain, it’s too much to bear I felt the pain to, and it hurt like hell But I, I would love to love The thought of being in love excites me I told my heart I will be careful this time I understand the damage she went through I know, I felt her pain just as much as she did I heard her cry, I cried with her I understood when she didn’t want to beat again I understood when she wanted to give up I know it was hard filling that hole left in her heart And then putting the broken pieces back together But I assured her that this time will be different, this time will be better I can’t promise no more pain, that I just can’t do But as far as handling her with care, I got her I told her that I placed her in God’s hands In order for someone to get to her They must first go to God There’s no need for her to be in a battle with me I fixed it to where we both could win And my heart smiled, she hasn’t smiled in a long time
