What Am I Looking For
I am always asked “What is it that you are looking for?” I would answer “I don’t know.” But what I am searching for is me I lost me a while back Between the disrespect and arguing I lost who I was Being called stupid, ***** and whore Being abused mentally and physically My self respect plunged and I lost me What am I looking for? I’m not looking for anything But what I am searching for is me What happened to me? Me always being sure of who I was But I allowed myself to let what someone else thought about me, break me down What am I looking for? I’m not looking for anything But what I am searching for is me Searching for a better me I was held down by someone needing to always be in control Shot down all my dreams, but wanted me to support theirs And I was there when they failed To comfort those wounds I lost myself, lost who I was, so they could be who they are What am I looking for? I’m not looking for anything But what I am searching for is me
