Opposite Sides
I am playing a game It's no longer the same One I can never win Unsure where to begin The basket is raised too high Somewhere up in the sky The rules ever changing Priorities rearranging My shoes nailed to the floor I can't jump any more Locked outside the door I live in the land of ridiculous Trying to measure up Kicked without benefit of a cup You are supposed to be my coach The one that I trust The person to help me adjust I no longer recognize the game You say I am to blame Instead of praise you heap on shame You say it's a young mans world Tell me to keep up with the times Now a nickel equals two dimes Show the people the shine It's your world not mine You call a dog a horse Expect me to believe you of course I'm left with no choice I must leave to gain a voice So I choose to walk away Really was there any other way Your game your rules I don't wish to play Yesterday seemed to make more sense Now we reside On opposite sides Of the same fence
