The Night of No Knight
In pain, I called out to you The tears streaming down my face My broken heart in my hand My whole world a sad disgrace A true damsel in distress I was waiting to be free From the demons of my night That were there torturing me I thought you full of mercy I could see it in your eyes So I sent out the signal To prevent a sad demise You dazzled with your armor I thought you splendid and grand With chivalrous demeanor Sought salvation from your hand I kept waiting for the sound Of gallant knight’s mighty steed I fought to hold on to life My heart continued to bleed There, my knight must be coming He will sweep me off my feet He will kiss away my wounds Take me to his castle retreat I waited; the moon grew pale I felt dizzy and grew faint So, I whispered my last prayer To change from sinner to saint As I crumbled to the ground And the world grew dim to sight I cursed the most tragic end Of this, my night of no Knight.
