Varnished Faces
Lay a whisper on my pillow Linger your sweet scent hard I swallow Feeling I nights out with a lover Among these thorny marshland clover But wake I up lonely in a dump of clumps Groping all over I feel but stumps There's air of silence in the slum And all around me were cans of rum Where I and my senses was unsure With ill-talked fantasies of things to insure I closed my eyes which i cede to tears And dream away my horrible fears Despite these painful terrible years Till the time ran out of your care But make believing you're still here Which makes sorrows seems mere That am still sheltered by your heart Sends pain in and out like a dart And jerks my gentle soul with a start Guts melt I like tear drops from your palm Though on a hard rainy day so dryly calm Your mockery came soothing like a balm And I hid my face in my silky pale hood To avoid jeers and stares from my neighborhood And simply drown and stifle my mood.
