Iguana Tree
I walked beneath the Iguana tree Along a cobbled road Taking in the surroundings In this land of Mexico Here life has a rhythm No one seems in a rush Yet they get where they're going While I continue on my walk I try to match their pace Yet I feel I'm out of step I worry about tomorrow All the worries in my head They seem to move so slowly Yet they are quick with a smile This is the land of mañana Still they work each day to get by I think they have so little There is a flaw in how I see For them family is the answer Or praying on bended knee Simple pleasures and laughter Living day by day Instead of rushing through our lives We should learn from the Mexican way I learn a small yet large lesson By stopping long enough to see A different way of living In sleepy Bucarrias by the Sea
