Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow By Elton Camp Once she was a child and with great hope filled Now only in her twenties, her very soul is chilled Sheer desperation grows stronger with each day To escape her dilemma, Daphne can see no way Her husband who had been handsome and fine To all of her needs, has become utterly blind Sean continues to be periodically unemployed It is with his wife that he gets terribly annoyed He doesn’t make enough money to get by Yet, to get a stable job, he doesn’t even try “A hard worker is a thing that I’ve never been” Sean apatheically tells his wife again and again Even for food Daphne must scrape and ration But Sean shows not even the least appreciation But deals with her with ever-increasing contempt When to cope with the situation she does attempt Their young children, Daphne’s attemtion demand She loves them, but they are ever right at hand Her precarious health leaves much to be desired For Daphne begins and ends her days too tired For this family, what does the future hold? This is a grim story that is yet to be told
