Shame
Shame! The World is so developed! Who said, and how? Have they not heard the feelings Of starvation in its heart; Lo! The world’s crying, Through the eyes of hungry mankind Starving for food and clothes And dying in our hands; Lo! The world’s crying, Through the eyes of slave children Starving for love and compassion And dying under our feet; Lo! The world’s crying, Through the eyes of suffering women Starving for life and existence And dying in our mind; Lo! The world’s crying, Through the eyes of lonely Creator Starving for peace and harmony And dying in our hearts; And how the world can prosper With the corrosion of our values; And, moreover, how can it exalt us As we enjoy our selfish riches?
