Wishful Thinking
WISHFUL THINKING Like a dream, wisps of her cologne I caught Deep down, I could feel it tingling my nostrils, A face so rare Beauty at its peak that was what she was. Peeking through the train as it slowed down, Her beautiful smiling face was all I could see Churning out butterflies in my belly, Enchanted, allured by her beauty. Was about drawing close, just to tell her how I feel, For I could feel a magnetic pull pulling me towards her Drew closer as the train finally drew to a stop; Every step I took, titivating and full of live as I drew very close, Suddenly, my progress was stalled. Why? I asked myself. I couldn’t explain why, But all I knew was that the magnetic pull was severed that minute. My mouth ajar, I steal a cursory sweep around, Looking for what must have severed the feel, And I saw a ring on her middle finger. Sadly, the three words I had concocted, And was about to shower her with;frozen in on my lips. Painfully, quietly, I withdrew, But my eyes never ceased stealing glances at her. Wondering why she had a ring on her middle finger, Making some incoherent sounds I saw her throw something into the pool behind the station; Awed, lost in thought, the engines of the train came alive. I throw glances at her, she smiled back and waved. As she waved, I noticed the ring was gone. Perplexed, anxious to know why, I ran towards the train, But alas! The train was gone, and the three words of mine Hanged in the air, For I was never to see her again.
