How Do You Keep From Crying
How do you keep from crying When the hurt runs so deep And you don't want to be awake But you just can't fall asleep? No one ever told you How fragile was the heart. No one ever warned you That life could fall apart And leave you feeling lonely Lost without your dreams, Wondering and wandering, To silent painful screams. How do you keep from crying When the hurt runs too deep And you don't want to be awake But you just can't fall asleep? He had you believing His love was true and real Then mocked at your devotion When you began to heal. Each time there came a phone call, A letter, or a sign That someone else was loving him So many other times. How do you keep from crying When the hurt runs river deep And you don't want to be awake But you just can't fall asleep? All that now remains Is a way to find some peace, A way to stop remembering, A way to find release. You loved him more than life You gave him all of you, But now it's just a beer alone Perhaps a pill or two.
