Carnival Horror
With carousel horses chipped and broken wires and wrappers littering the ground People chattering, waiting in line house of horrors and house of mirrors A ferris wheel that doesn't look too happy carnival roadies moaning and groaning A smell very vagrant and atrocious I ask myself why come here at all? Children throwing stones into a fish's home popping balloons and shooting guns for a prize they're going to forget within a day A blown up hammer or an overstuffed animal a stupid keychain or a dumb gold fish An odd barrage of music that burns my ears Watching the tilt-a-whirl spin off it's hinges I ask myself why did I come here? My friend hauls me over to the roller coaster A roadie turns down the boy ahead You must be at least this tall! We get strapped in, barred in there's no escape now, I'm in prison I feel the ride begin - jagged and bumpy I'm not nauseated, but digusted The people all around us, scream They lift their hands up and I guess pray Hope to dislodge and meet their plummeting doom or I think maybe that's my prayer Each circle reminds me exactly what I hate about this Why am I here?
