My Friend the Lord
Walking along a cool morning stream Admiring the scenery as if trapped in a dream. For I know my Lord had a hand in this place Watching the sunrise over the tall mountain face. The breeze in the air sings a song in the trees and I know he's listening as I bend to my knees. This is where me and my friend talk each day He reveals all his wisdom as I faithfully pray. I open my Bible to learn of his story begging for mercy so I may live for his glory. He reminds me salvation is his gift to me His son paid in blood so souls may be free He tells me he loves me for I am his clay. He tells me he waits for our talk here each day. I tell him I love him 'cause he first loved me. I thank him for teaching my eyes how to see. The morning is over and it's time I go I take one last look at my friends daylight show. Our time always ends with tears on my face I'm humbled by mercy and joyful for grace.
