Morbid Curiosity
the slice the gash the blood the flow the flush the rush the endorphins spreading throughout the body (sensual shock to the brain) the alcohol the bandage the cover-up the revealing the lie the emotional scar the return the hack the gouge the dig the deeper wound the blood pouring the blood shooting out like a fire hydrant the flush like the falls of Niagara the larger rush than before the explosion of endorphins the orgasm of the mind the bliss the alcohol the bandage the cover-up the need for more the absence of emotional pain (blacked out by the physical each time you slam the wound against a table) the lighting of the cigarette the twisting of the burning flame into the skin the searing the fresh new pain undeniable & beautiful losing the virginity all over again the wonder the echoes of destruction ripping up the arm or the leg (wherever the burn occured) the sensual explosion the annihilation of the emotions the blanking of the slate the smile within the analgesic ointment of choice the bandage the cover-up the painkiller popped to curb the leftover burn the bliss the fall the lay back in the bed the control over one’s life no longer needing anyone to listen no longer needing to feel vulnerable no longer abiding by the norm that doesn’t care anyway.
