The Old Photoghraph
~The Old Photograph~ I was asked to get rid of an old beaten black leather bag Curiosity demanded I check it inside Nothing was there but my fingers did snag Something stuck in the lining on one side. I took a closer look to find out what was there Could it be money or a love letter, would it mine, would it be fair? I tore at the lining of the old beaten black leather bag And there it was a photograph not much about to brag.   I pulled it from its years of hiding in the dark A man holding a baby on the picture not a mark The puzzle to me as I held it up high The head was cut off of the man - I wondered why. A babe in arms barely a few months old A man in a suit I wonder at the story that it told The owner of the bag was a lady of many years Unhappy all her life and she caused many tears. The baby would by now be quite an age The child of the bag owner I suppose one could wage To be hidden away for all these bleak years To have his head cut off carefully there must be so many fears. The owner of the old beaten black leather bag Maybe had reason to be such a hag No one can ask she is with us no more But I have that photograph to ponder on more. © 18/05/2012 Written By:~GG~
