Celebrating 50: Iii
And when the pirates just a tale became The national fabric was inflamed Like a broken heart I saw the schools that had no shame That failed me once And failed more now I saw them frightened Nor did they understand O the anecdote Could make scammers an antidote For the colonial pain. A liberated mind Will not tolerate the rattle Nor image of chain ... It would have been worse With so many guns Hiding at the back of our heads I do not seek the curse Of civil wars or revolutions That breed Cockroach litter of revolution In all the confusion Of a rich tenth Thinking their laws Will be worshipped By men broken to see Suffering and them as heaven sent We need a policy more radical To heal the wounds With pain historical. I have met them The living policies walking half clad in unclad streets Writing in dust With unholy feet.
