Hat Full of Stars
(Ode to Mr. Einstein) By the time I was born, he had passed away A myth of a man, so my father would say One picture of him, bright eyes and hair of grey He had so much to say perhaps, wisest of his day His faith in God I think overshadowed by his way The simplicities of his mind, still contemplated today The genius unique Simply looking afar He put the magic of space Into his Hat full of stars By the time I had grown he had fame in praise So misunderstood, I would have to say Like caricatures hanging, adorning Princeton’s hallways “Imagination is more important than knowledge” The myth of this man; an injustice to us all How many more like him I wonder will follow? The man imaginative Sharing everything we are He pulled the magic of his mind From a Hat full of stars
