Sitting At the Cross
Sitting At the Cross 18“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” 1 Cor 1:18 NIV I am sitting at the cross— Lord, how I see your pain. I am sitting at the cross— My eternal life to gain. I am sitting at the cross, Where you died to cover, All my sins and disobedience To still Satan’s fervor. I am sitting at the cross, As the earthquake shakes the ground, Darkness falls upon the earth, As death, for me, you found. The nails through your wrists, Were more painful than I can imagine. As I’m sitting at the cross I see a horrid scene for Zion. I am sitting at the cross, As the Sabbath day rolls on, I can hear both Mary’s weeping For what seems so very wrong. Your death was prophesied, Many, many years before, Yet few understood the opening Of immortality’s door. I am sitting at the cross, As you are lowered down To rest on the Sabbath; Rise to a kingly crown. They covered your naked body And took you to Joseph’s tomb. With the rich you were buried, But to life would rise again soon. You chose to show a sinful world, That death need not be final For those who sit at the cross; Comprehend Calvary’s jewel. Those who join me at the cross, Have hope of life eternal, Should they accept their Saviour And Calvary as personal.
