Heroin's Heroine
A TELEPHONIC TONIC I can’t believe she remained on the telephone~ For years she’d been telling me to leave her alone~ But my heart did the dialing while I could hardly speak~ Words etched from her beauty for a lady so sleek~ Willowy was she as we picnicked under a tree~ But that was log ago when she still wanted me Then came the day the picnic was permanently over And I still recall how astoundingly pretty she looked naked midst clover But for every acre of clover there are sure to be weeds And I had various and sundry needs These were things she could never provide And to keep her for three years this man perpetually lied I lied about where I had been and done Until I became a handsome the lady should shun And shun me she did with stealth and desire While midst that clover now my soul is still afire The lady had it all and decided to share that with me Her body glowed so brightly I nearly couldn’t see But damnably she discovered that I possessed no real charm As her disdain and disappointment grew with each shot in my arm But a junkie has to do that which a junkie must do As both my love for her and Lady Heroin grew But after years of getting clean in spirit, body and bone I still can’t understand why she remained on the phone © 2011.….PHREEPOETREE ~free cee!~
