Christmas Time
I tried to be tough in prison, stronger then them all. But when Chrismas came around, my tears would begin to fall. I thought of my family, and how they all missed me. So I'd close my cell door, so no one in prison could see. Then I'd take my sadness, and turn it into mad. When I thought of my children, getting no presents from their Dad. Then one day when my tears began to fall. My cell door opened up, and my name was called. I remember that day, as I sat all alone. When the guard handed me the news, it was a letter from home. It was a letter from my Mother, telling me Christmas was near. And it was the greatest Christmas ever, because I was safe inside of here. She said before I came to prison, her tears fell every night. She just wanted to know where her son was, just to know he was all right. Then I saw tears on the letter, before the next line had begun. She said Christmas aint about presents, Christmas is about the Son. Christmas aint about no tree, or your children getting toys. And believe me son, these tears you see are tears of joy. She said as you sit in your cell, don't let it be all that you see. And know that the greatest gifts, don't fit under no tree. So turn your tears into joy, before you let them fall. And know that Christmas is here, even inside of prison walls.
