The Reason For Christmas
A child was born in Bethlehem, On a night so long ago; A holy child, God's only Son, But the people didn't know. They didn't know their Messiah, The One they'd been waiting for, Had come in the form of a tiny babe, Not the king they'd been hoping for. Though King of all creation, His crib was a feeding trough. There was no finery to clothe Him in, He was wrapped in homespun cloth. No royal heralds were dispatched, To announce His royal birth; But angels from the realms of heaven, Made it known to shepherds on earth. The lowly shepherds made haste to see, What the angels had spoken of, And fell to their knees and worshipped Him, This infant king from above. That's why we celebrate Christmas, To honor the birth of our King, Messiah, God's Son, Jesus, The gift that means everything. 11/25/11
