Footprints
One night I went to sleep and dreamed I walked along the beach, and scenes From all my life flashed in the sky, With footprints of the Lord and I. But as the last scene caught my gaze, I looked back at my trials’ days And only saw two footprints there; The sight of this brought me despair. I looked at Jesus and I cried, “Lord, on the day I did decide To follow You, You promised me That I would not forsaken be. Yet as I look back on the way I traveled, I see many a day With just one set of footprints there In times when I was in despair. Oh, Lord, I thought You said You’d care, So tell me, Lord, why weren’t You there?” The Lord replied, “My precious son, I love you so, and I’m the One Whose footprints you are seeing there, For on those days I showed my care By carrying you safely in My arms, Protecting you from all the harm.” Then I awoke and knew the scene, Though it was just a nighttime dream, Was a great lesson there to see: My God is always watching me! Based on the reading, Footprints.
