This Flight Is Entirely Computer Controlled
This Flight Is Entirely Computer Controlled By Elton Camp It was inevitable that it would become this way Pilot error causes most crashes, experts all say Many lives would be saved, it was estimated If only the human pilot were to be eliminated Computers have no emotions & don’t get tired Accordingly, at HAL Air, all of them were fired It was proclaimed to be the best advance in years Removing pilots would quell all passenger fears Then the first such flight very quickly sold out That it was the way to go, travelers had no doubt “Airplane pilots get sleepy or even fly drunk. I never did like to have to trust such a skunk.” “Welcome to HAL Air,” a computer voice said And the prepared script it so competently read “Aviation history is being made here today. For no pilot is onboard to just get in the way.” “I am programmed to handle whatever may arise. We are racing down the runway and into the skies.” Suddenly static and the voice became a tinny song “Nothing can ever go wrong…go wrong…go wrong…”
