Twisted Lullaby a Bedtime Poem Not For Kids
Sleep, sleep my little ones, Stay in bed until the rising sun. Go to sleep and drift off to the places, Where the monsters can’t chew off your faces. If you make noise they’ll know you’re awake, Then they’ll know which kids they can take. Sleep, sleep my little ones, Stay in bed until the rising sun. The monsters can’t get to you while you sleep, Then the neighbor’s kids they’ll have to eat. All night the monsters crouch by your bed, Waiting to see the eyes in your head. Sleep, sleep my little ones, Stay in bed until the rising sun. You used to have an older sister, Since she’s been gone we’ve really missed her. She wouldn’t sleep when it was time, It was such a shameful crime. Sleep, sleep my little ones, Stay in bed until the rising sun. Can you believe that it’s getting so late? You’ve brushed your teeth, well that’s just great. Now jump into bed and say your prayers, But keep an eye on those teddy bears. Someone had asked me to write a nice little children’s lullaby for their kids and I told them that I try to be a little more subversive with my poems but they pressed me and so I did write them a nice poem. It was too sweet so to get it out of my system I wrote them this one also. Putting the world back into balance.
