Dream Land
Low and unremitting. A chanted poem lasting forever. Those syllables floating in the air, and sifting through my memories. Words spiraling, transporting me to another place, a forest covered in mist, with that voice hovering around me. A charcoal wolf approaches from the right, nudging me along, and I’m compelled to follow. We seem to fly through the trees as we run side by side. The chant picks up, faster and faster, our feet and paws skimming the ground below. The tempo changes, we stop suddenly, and suspended before us is a mirror. My charcoal guide stands beside the glass, staring intently as I sway back and forth. The mirror seizes my attention and draws me forward. The voice around us slows, becoming soft and encouraging as I raise my fingers to the gleaming surface. The wolf shifts towards me, whining its approval, still staring. As the murmuring voice becomes hushed, and fades away, my true love is revealed, and steps out of the glass, into my waiting arms.
